Board of Deacons

The Board of Deacons was formed to meet the physical needs of the Congregation. It is modeled after the Deacons who were selected in Acts 6:1-6 wherein men are selected to serve the needs of the congregation to allow the spiritual leaders (at that time the Apostles) to spend time in the Word of God and in prayer. They are spoken of again in I Timothy 3:8-13. We also see the elders and deacons working together in the greeting to the Philippians (1:1) It is clear that both the Elder Board and the Deacon Board are to work closely together to meet the needs of the church.

The purpose of the Board is to identify and organize the visitation of the sick, the analysis of the benevolent needs of people and to assist people wherever possible. This Board is one which actively seeks the membership of husband and wife teams to meet these needs. The Board of Deacons is given monies from the Elder Fund to distribute to those people whom it deems in need of assistance.
