{"id":399,"date":"2018-06-24T12:00:16","date_gmt":"2018-06-24T16:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fbcpburg.org\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=399"},"modified":"2018-06-25T14:16:19","modified_gmt":"2018-06-25T18:16:19","slug":"a-new-audience","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/www.fbcpburg.org\/sermons\/a-new-audience\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Audience"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Matthew 6:1-8; 16-18<\/h6>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text Matt-6-1\"><span class=\"woj\">Beware of\u00a0practicing your righteousness before other people in order\u00a0to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-ESV-23285\" class=\"text Matt-6-2\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may\u00a0be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have\u00a0received their reward.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-ESV-23286\" class=\"text Matt-6-3\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23287\" class=\"text Matt-6-4\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>so that your giving may be in secret.\u00a0And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Matt-6-5\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love\u00a0to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others.\u00a0Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23289\" class=\"text Matt-6-6\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>But when you pray,\u00a0go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret.\u00a0And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-ESV-23290\" class=\"text Matt-6-7\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as\u00a0the Gentiles do, for\u00a0they think that they will be heard\u00a0for their many words.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23291\" class=\"text Matt-6-8\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>Do not be like them,\u00a0for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Matt-6-16\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others.\u00a0Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23300\" class=\"text Matt-6-17\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>But when you fast,\u00a0anoint your head and wash your face,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23301\" class=\"text Matt-6-18\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret.\u00a0And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Matthew 6:1-8; 16-18 Beware of\u00a0practicing your righteousness before other people in order\u00a0to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2\u00a0Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may\u00a0be praised by others.
